The hot tip for the Bolton job appears to be Dougie Freedman. The Palace manager, appointed at the same time as Charlton installed Chris Powell, has impressed at Selhurst despite having limited funds to work with.
He is the type of young, hungry manager that fits Phil Gartside’s template.
Paul Jewell looks to be on the thinnest of ice at Portman Road and the Liverpudlian seems unlikely to survive much longer. The man Ipswich are thought to want to takeover is Alan Curbishley.
A radio reporter suggested that Curbishley would walk up the A12 to get the job. Certainly, it is much more likely that Curbishley will pitch up at Ipswich than Bolton, who were reported to be interested in his services.
Charlton and Palace are keen to take QPR winger, Hogan Ephraim, on loan. If Dougie Freedman does switch to Bolton, it would appear to leave the way clear for the Addicks to clinch a deal for Ephraim’s return.
